The Importance of Family & Support

I find that a lot of people don't understand what you go through, so I try to explain in plain terms how I feel - the pain, the aches, the fatigue, being depressed - but I tell them that the most important thing is getting support from them. So if people really want to help you and try to understand what you're going through, you explain what you're going through every day. Explain to them, "I'm not feeling well. This is how I'm feeling." I try to tell them to picture having a severe case of the flu: the body aches, the fatigue, the muscle pain, the tiredness, just not being here, the fogginess. Picture having that four weeks straight. That's my one day of life. Then they really get it.
