You have to find your new normal and accept that it's not the same as what you had before. I wouldn't say that I'm as active as I was, but I still do some of the things I did before I got sick. I like to hike, but I keep it very low key. I like yoga, but if I'm in a lot of pain that day, I'm not going to do it. I like to go camping. Even if it doesn't necessarily help with pain or if it doesn't take the pain away for me, just the connection to nature helps since I like being outside. I've adjusted a lot of things. We used to do a lot of tent camping, but I can't lie on the ground anymore. So we bought an older camper and now I don't have to sleep on the ground - but I can still have my campfire and we can still take hikes. So you just make adjustments and it takes time. That new normal takes a lot of time. I'm still working on it.
